TP-Link Launches the First Available Matter-Certified Smart Plug for the European Market

TP-Link, a leading global provider in the networking and smart home markets, launched its first available Matter-certified smart socket, Tapo P100M, for the European market. With the Matter protocol gaining traction and offering practical benefits, Tapo P100M will benefit users with seamless integration, interoperability, and other smart functions.

Matter is an industry-unifying connectivity standard that aims to bridge the gap between smart home platforms, promising seamless communication among IoT devices. To bring the vision to life, TP-Link, along with other manufacturers, has been driving the practical application of the Matter protocol. As the front runner of the Matter protocol, TP-Link is constantly optimizing the user experience of Matter products and providing detailed documentation for getting started. Building on Tapo's smart plug line, Tapo P100M receives a more streamlined and comprehensive third-party integration solution with Matter support. Users can now connect Tapo P100M locally to Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, or any other Matter-enabled smart home platform of their choice. Apart from that, Matter's Multi-Admin feature allows cross-platform control of Tapo P100M without requiring users to select a single app or controller.

As for the smart functions, Tapo P100M still handles the basics well, providing functions from scheduling, and remote control, to working with other smart home products for personalized scenes. Furthermore, the Tapo app offers a wider range of smart features that go beyond the usual Matter repertoire, such as Away Mode and Auto-Off Timer, which automatically cuts off power to the connected device after it is left on for a set time.

TP-Link is planning a series of Matter-certified products with enhanced features, such as smart plugs with an Energy Monitoring function. Meanwhile, the company is working with other smart home platforms to further advance the Matter protocol and open up more diverse smart functions for third-party apps and controllers. Despite bumps in the road, TP-Link is thrilled to embark on a new journey to the Matter era with our customers, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to broad-range compatibility and simplified integration.
