TP-Link® is Upgrading Omada, a Smarter Cloud Solution for Business Networking

SHENZHEN, China – July 1, 2020 – TP-Link®, a leading global provider of consumer and business networking products, today announced they are upgrading TP-Link Omada, a smarter cloud solution for business networking. The cloud management platform is unveiled along with the releases of new SafeStream gateways, JetStream switches, and Omada Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 5 access points.

Based on the success of the current Omada business Wi-Fi brand, TP-Link is integrating gateways, switches, and more Wi-Fi 6 access points into its Software Defined Networking (SDN) solutions. TP-Link provides fast, reliable wireless connections with Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6, as well as 10GE, 2.5GE, and GE wired connections to fit various scenarios.

TP-Link Omada offers customer professional, reliable, and secure end-to-end cloud solutions dedicated to business networking. These solutions are specially designed for hospitality, education, retail, office, and other industries, providing scenario-based products and extensive benefits. 100% centralized cloud management is integrated, ensuring control of all devices from a single interface—anywhere, anytime.

    Software Defined Networking (SDN)

Traditional enterprise networks with complicated network topology require devices to be repeatedly configured one at a time. Network information (device status, client status, traffic, etc.) is distributed among different devices, and it is difficult for administrators to quickly understand the overall status of the network. Furthermore, it is difficult to readjust networking infrastructure when expanding network scale, wasting time and necessitating intensive maintenance.

SDN overcomes these obstacles. The concept of Software Defined Networking came about with the proposal of OpenFlow in 2008. As technology advances, network development is centered around the goal of improving network automation and reducing configuration complexity, ensuring security and stability. SDN achieves automatic batch management for networking functions via a centralized controller. Moreover, agile network topology and easy device configuration enable quick and flexible network expansion, leading to faster deployment and lower maintenance fees for the whole network.

Various vendors have successively launched SDN solutions, but TP-Link delivers surprises beyond what would normally be associated with an SDN network. TP-Link Omada is an SDN network with a controller as the core so as to realize automatic deployment of network services and automatic data distribution across gateways, switches, and access points. The Omada SDN solution boasts multiple advanced features that make it ideal for any business, with higher efficiency, higher reliability, and higher security.

    1. Centralized Cloud Management

100% centralized cloud management makes Omada access points, JetStream switches, SafeStream gateways, and more all controllable from a single interface—from anywhere, at any time.

    2. Zero-Touch Provision

Zero-touch deployment allows to remotely deploy and configure multi-site networks, so there’s no need to send out an engineer for on-site configuration. Omada Cloud ensures efficient deployment at a lower cost.

    3. Easy Network Monitoring

The easy-to-use dashboard, makes it easy to see your real-time network status, check network usage and traffic distribution, receive network condition logs and abnormal event warnings and notifications, or even track key data for better business results. Network topology helps IT admins quickly see and troubleshoot connections at a glance.

    4. AI-Driven Technology for Stronger Performance and Easy Network Maintenance*

With AI-driven technology, TP-Link Omada helps IT staff analyze potential network problems and receive optimization suggestions to improve network efficiency. It further helps to locate network faults, notifies users of them, and generate solutions to reduce network risk.

    5. Automatic Channel Selection and Power Adjustment

Adjusts the channel settings and transmission power of neighboring APs in the same network to provide powerful wireless performance and drastically reduce Wi-Fi interference.

    6. High-Density Wi-Fi Deployment

Omada APs are equipped with enterprise chipsets, dedicated antennas, advanced RF functions, and auto channel selection and power adjustment, for high-concurrency capacity in high-density environments. The latest Omada Wi-Fi 6 access points are capable of connecting up to 1,000 clients**.

    7. Scenario-Based Design

TP-Link Omada satisfies diverse needs in various environments with Omada mesh, seamless roaming, guest networks, WPA3, and other advanced features.

    8. Higher Reliability

Service-Level-Agreement (SLA) of Omada Cloud guarantees 99.99% availability with 24/7 automated fault detection. Geographically isolated back-up servers reduce the possibility of cloud downtime. Your network will function even if management traffic is interrupted. Besides, high product quality further ensures the reliable operation of system.

    9. Higher Security

TP-Link Omada separates network management data from user data, with no user traffic passing through the cloud, ensuring a better protection for user’s privacy. Powerful firewall and advanced security functions further protect the network and data.

“We are extremely proud to roll out TP-Link Omada, an end-to-end cloud solution dedicated to business networking.” said Pingji Li, GM of the Network Business Department at TP-Link. “TP-Link Omada aims to simplify network management, and help build a business network with higher efficiency, higher reliability, and higher security.”
